SAN DIEGO - Nearly 100 people, most of them students, were arrested in an undercover drug investigation at San Diego State University that began after a student's fatal cocaine overdose last spring, authorities said Tuesday.

Authorities seized several guns, at least $60,000 in cash, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, hash oil, methamphetamine and illicit prescription drugs, authorities said.

Two kilograms of cocaine and 350 ecstasy pills also were seized, officials said, who added that several more people were being sought.

Top Technology Blogs!

hellooo everyone! I found an article online at www.forbes.com about the best technology blogs. how appropriate right?
to go straight to the page to read it all, you can click here ( i'm really liking this link thing haha ) & ill also attach some of it below.

"There are thousands of technology Web sites out there, but Weblogs are your e-ticket to becoming an industry insider. Want to find that impossibly thin cell phone or high-resolution digital camera? Or perhaps you need to get briefed on the digital privacy and copyright debates or learn how to fortify your inbox against spam? Bloggers are talking about it. In fact, the posts on veteran blog Slashdot often break technology news.  Besides breaking news, you'll find information on tech trends you can't pick up elsewhere and well-articulated arguments about all things tech. These sites all share limitless curiosity and passion for covering all that is next. -- Matt Roberts"

The top sites are :
  • lifehacker.com
  • www.oreillynet.com

Here's the site reviews (a brief tidbit, there's more if you go to the actual page- just click the word):

BEST: An abundance of real-time technology information. Also, you can define Friends & Foes to aid in reading discussions.

WORST: Reader discussion boards sometimes wander far from the topic at hand.

BoingBoing

BEST: Great mix of culture, tech, humor and general geekery.

WORST: Many posts, loosely organized. Miss a day, miss a lot.

Engadget

BEST: Search function. If you are looking for a Samsung cell phone, for example, just type in Samsung and all related posts will come up

WORST: Some posts just link to product Web pages.

Gizmodo

BEST: Consistently clever reviews and novel product selections.

WORST: Product picks may induce drooling.

Kuro5hin

BEST: Well-organized article categories great for in-depth topic exploration.

WORST: Hit-or-miss article subjects sometimes unappealing to large audiences.

Lifehacker

BEST: Site offers RSS feeds of the latest tech news headlines as well as full articles from many sites--all in one place.

WORST: No mortal can keep up with deluge of daily tips.

O'Reilly Network

BEST: Well-written tech tutorials for computing professionals.

WORST: Non-technical readers may be left scratching their heads

Think secret

BEST: All Mac, all early, all the time.

WORST: Ditto. PC users need not apply.

Technology In our Daily lives!!

Technology today is crazy, without it we wouldn't be able to function in our daily lives. If I lost my cell phone like if it died I would be completely lost. I wouldn't be able to contact anyone I know, I don't download phone numbers onto paper address books anymore, if I do lose a cell phone I go back to my old cell phone and turn it on in order to get all their information out of them. It's ridiculous.

We rely on technology for so much stuff. I do banking online, I check my account daily. That's how I found out about the bank fraud from our school. I noticed a weird purchase but it was so cheap I didn't think twice. When the bank called me I was really surprised that I was a victim of identity theft-the very thing we were talking about in class!

NEW TOPIC:
Myspace versus Facebook
Which one do you like better?

OUR BLOG NEEDS FOCUS!

Hey guys, i think our blog needs a focus. There hundreds of things we could post about tech & comm..we should pick something to narrow it down & make our page not quite so random.
How about finding info/ posting pics/ videos that are relevant to us, because if we are using the blog- we are using technology, and if we all are reading & commenting about what we post- well thats communication....so WHAT we post might not matter as much.

Random topics we could talk about might be....
  • Our summer plans
  • talking about what we like & don't like about  CSU, Stanislaus
  • The top places to go in turlock, modesto
  • ???

If we do want to incorporate technology  we could always talk about ...

  • Technology in our daily lives ( how we use it, what we like & don't like) and what technology we think they will come up with in the future or what technology we want to use.
  •  (EX: Check out this link- it shows microsoft surface...a really cool new computer like system! seriously this is amazing to me... Click here & watch these videos!)
  • Different technology/websites that are useful to college students ( book websites, bars, resume writing, note taking, getting jobs, housing..etc)
  • We could all search and make a list of our top 5 favorite blogs that we found on the internet & post pics & say why we like them
  • the pro's & con's of myspace & facebook..
LETS PICK ONE! comment or post about what you think!

Net Neutrality

Network neutrality (equivalently net neutrality, Internet neutrality is a principle that is applied to residential broadband networks, and potentially to all networks. A neutral broadband network is one that is free of restrictions on the kinds of equipment that may be attached, on the modes of communication allowed, which does not restrict content, sites or platforms, and where communication is not unreasonably degraded by other communication streams. The possibility of regulations designed to mandate the neutrality of the Internet has been subject to fierce debate in various fora. Though the term did not enter popular use until several years later, since the early 2000s advocates of net neutrality and associated rules have engaged in mutual campaigns of propaganda with broadband providers over the ability to use "last mile" infrastructure to block opposed internet applications, and content providers (e.g. websites, services, protocols), particularly those served by competitors. Neutrality proponents also claim that telecom companies seek to impose the tiered sevice model more for the purpose of profiting from their control of the pipeline rather than for any demand for their content or services. Others have stated that they believe net neutrality to be primarily important as a preservation of current freedoms. As Vint Cerf, co-inventor of the Internet Protocol has stated, "The Internet was designed with no gatekeepers over new content or services. A lightweight but enforceable neutrality rule is needed to ensure that the Internet continues to thrive."

Here are some pictures that illustrate the technology we have today, lolol:
